My new sprouting jars made from gherkin jars. I made holes in the lids for draining with some pointy scissors. I drain them on the dish drainer- it is supposed to be at an angle of 45 degrees for a few minutes, after rinsing. This is alfalfa and mung bean.

I love mung and alfalfa sprouts. They are so cheap to do yourself, I am just now finally getting into the habit of making plenty to last the 3 days to the next batch. Do you eat them raw or cook with them? Do your kids eat them? I love your blog and this recipe one. Especially like your photos!
Hi Lou
thanks for your comments :o)
We eat them raw, but sometimes cook mung sprouts in a stir-fry, which is great. The last lot got left too long and went quite long and were great for stir-frying. I didnt fancy them raw at that stage. J (aged 7) likes sprouts, especially alfalfa, in sandwiches or with salad dressing on. The others think they're yuck, but somtimes can't tell them apart from noodles!
